Food is Medicine & Clinical Referral

TRACTOR Food & Farms fulfills healthy food prescriptions for Health Providers and Clinics through the TRACTOR CSA. If you are a Health Provider or FQHC interested in learning more about the TRACTOR CSA and how you can make referrals, please reach out to us.

We currently make referrals in partnership with the following organizations:

On Medicaid? See if you quality for a TRACTOR CSA share through the Healthy Opportunities Pilot. Note: This program is currently paused, and continuation depends on decision by the NC State Legislature.

Don’t qualify for a clinical referral? Through TRACTOR’s Healthy Harvest program, seasonal produce is still available to community members at no cost at partner community garden markets and food pantries across Mitchell, Yancey, Avery, and Madison Counties.

This program has been the bridge for my family as SNAP doesn’t stretch very far at all anymore. It made healthy eating possible. I’m worried about what we will do when it’s gone. Food banks are almost all empty anymore. Also we lost our main grocery store to Helene and who knows when we will get a new one. All we have now is Walmart and it is often wiped out.
